About the 8th (IR) Battalion, APSP, Chittoor
The Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) Battalions provide reserve police forces for law and order, disaster response, and internal security duties across the state. The 8th (IR) Battalion at Chittoor requires a range of support staff, including record-keeping, office administrative, sanitation, catering, laundry, and grooming personnel, to maintain the Battalion’s daily operations and welfare of its police personnel.
Why This Recruitment Covers Such Diverse Roles
Police battalions like the 8th (IR) Bn operate as largely self-contained residential units, requiring in-house support staff for functions that would otherwise be outsourced to external vendors in a civilian office setting. This explains why a single recruitment notification spans everything from clerical Record Assistant and Office Subordinate roles to essential facility-support roles like Cooks, Dhobis, Barbers, Sweepers, and Scavengers, each contributing to the smooth day-to-day functioning and welfare of Battalion personnel stationed at Chittoor.
Preparing for the Selection Process
Given that most posts combine a Read & Write Test with either a Skill Test or a heavily weighted Interview, candidates should focus preparation according to their target post: Record Assistant and Office Subordinate applicants should revise Telugu, English, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and Social Studies at the SSC level, while Cook, Dhobi, and Barber applicants should be ready to demonstrate practical trade skills during the Skill Test, and Sweeper/Scavenger applicants should be prepared for an interview that heavily weighs relevant work experience and personal hygiene standards.
Final Word
Eligible candidates from the erstwhile Chittoor district interested in Record Assistant, Office Subordinate, Sweeper, Scavenger, Cook, Dhobi, or Barber posts at the 8th (IR) Battalion, APSP, Chittoor, should download and submit their application before 15 September 2026, 5:00 PM, along with all required attested documents.
Document Checklist Before Submission
Since the notification explicitly states that any missing self-attested document will lead to summary rejection of the application, candidates should carefully assemble all twelve listed documents, filled application with photo, SSC marks memo, all qualifying exam marks memos, pass certificates, provisional/permanent certificates, council/board registration (where applicable), caste or EWS certificate, Class IV to X study certificates, experience certificate, and Aadhar certificate, well before the closing date, since incomplete submissions cannot be corrected after the fact.
Understanding Roster Points and Category-wise Allotment
The notification specifies a detailed roster point number and reservation category (OC, SC Group-I, SC Group-II, ST, BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, EWS) for each individual vacancy within a post, following the AP State and Subordinate Services Rules. For example, among the 9 Sweeper vacancies, specific roster points are earmarked for SC Group-II and ST candidates, while the 14 Cook vacancies include roster points for BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, SC Group-I, SC Group-II, ST, and EWS categories in addition to Open Competition. Candidates should refer to the detailed roster table in the official notification to identify which specific vacancy number corresponds to their reservation category, since this affects how the final merit list and category-wise selection will be prepared.
