NFR Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

As per the official notification, for appointment against Sports Quota in Technician-III, the minimum educational qualification is Class 10th pass; however, the training period for such sports quota appointees will be 3 years, unless they possess an ITI qualification in the relevant trade, in which case it will be 6 months. Proof of age (HS/Matriculation certificate issued by a recognised board or equivalent) must be attached with the online application.

Sports Achievement Norms

As per the official notification, candidates must be an active player currently, with achievements in the immediate previous two financial years. Sports achievements in recognized championships/events held on or after 01 April 2024 only shall be considered for appointment. The minimum sports norms for recruitment are as follows:

• Level-3/2: Represented the country in Category-B championships/events, OR at least 3rd position in Category-C championships/events, Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships, National Games (Indian Olympic Association), or All India Inter University Championships, OR 1st position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category).
• Level-1: Represented the country in Category-C championships/events, OR at least 3rd position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category), OR represented a state or equivalent unit with at least 8th position in Senior National Championships (except marathon and cross-country).

As per the official notification, Category-A includes Olympic Games (Senior); Category-B includes World Cup/World Championships/Asian Games/Commonwealth Games/Youth Olympics and similar events; Category-C includes Commonwealth Championships, Asian Championships/Asia Cup, SAF Games, USIC (World Rlys) Championship and World University Games. NFR Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

As per the official notification, candidates who appear for the selection trials will be entitled to a partial refund of the application fee (after deduction of banking and other charges), for which they must provide their bank details in the online application form. There is no reservation for any community in this recruitment, but SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates must submit caste/income certificates in the prescribed Annexure formats for fee concession purposes.

2. Interview and Assessment of Sports Achievement, Educational Qualification, etc.

As per the official notification, the Trial Committee assesses game skill, physical fitness and coach’s observations, giving a recommendation of FIT (25 marks or more, out of 40) or NOT FIT (below 25 marks). Only FIT candidates proceed to the Interview stage, where the Recruitment Committee awards marks for recognized sports achievement (50 marks) and educational qualification (10 marks), for an Interview total of 60 marks. The Trial marks (out of 40) are added to the Interview marks (out of 60) to prepare the final merit list out of 100 marks. Interviews are held on the same day as the trial, or at most the next day.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

As per the official notification, the offer of appointment is given purely on the basis of merit. In case more than one sportsperson scores the same marks, preference is given to the younger candidate to decide the merit.
